Eggs ’n Honey

A 20-acre family farm located in Prattsburgh, Eggs ’n Honey uses sustainable and ethical practices and views farming as “an opportunity to nurture the land and animals around us.” The small farm store outbuilding offers locals and visitors a chance to visit the farm and buy local eggs, honey, beef, and produce directly from the farmer. And it’s a great opportunity to interact with animals (including sheep, goats, and Dexter cattle) and learn about where your food comes from. There are even seasonal u-pick veggies and flower activities available.

As the name suggests, the small homestead is a source for farm-fresh eggs and local honey. Collaborating with with honeybees to produce flavorful pure unprocessed honey, they believe in nature and encourage the bees to do what they do best by focusing on providing the bees with everything they need (water, flowers and various plants) enabling them to transform flower nectar into the delicious liquid. The different poultry—chickens, ducks, turkeys— are free range, fed with local organic whole grains and live as families (the chickens raise their chicks) in an open pasture environment with protected boarders.

At the heart of the farm is the importance of community and the family works closely with their neighbors, but also invite anyone interested in farm life to stop by and experience the joys of working with nature by offering workshops on beekeeping, harvesting, raising chickens and more. You’ll also find them at local farm markets like Corning’s Farmers’ Market.
